I thought that this was amusing since I posted about Lady Justice a few weeks ago…

Judge Sotomayor said in a 2001 speech at the Berkeley Shcool of Law,
“Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

She put this philosophy to work in the case: Ricci v. DeStefano. New Haven, Conn. firefighters were guilty of being white. They were denied promotions because no black firefighters were eligible for the promotions, based solely on test scores. New Haven had spent a large sum of money to insure the test was not racially biased. One of the white firefighters was hispanic. Judge Sotomayor was part of a 3 judge appeals court panel that rejected the white firefighters lawsuit.

President Obama’s Judicial nominee gets reversed.

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court ruled Monday that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.”

Best line in the above article…

The ruling is “a sign that individual achievement should not take a back seat to race or ethnicity,” said Karen Torre, the firefighters’ attorney.

Could someone tell me how this is possible? The American Bar Association just gave Judge Sotomayor it’s top rating.

Everything I’ve read about her shows that she is not a top legal mind. Did President Obama buy the ABA like he’s bought the banks, the car companies, and the media? Perhaps the ABA owns Obama and this is their way of making sure he succeeds.

The ABA is only slightly to the right of MoveOn.org. Bush (both I believe) ignored the ABA ratings and recommendations when selecting nominees. I believe that Obama made a comment about using the ABA if elected, and after the election, one of the ABA spokes holes commented that the ABA was “back where it belonged” or words to that affect.

I am not surprised that the ABA would BTMN’s nominee its highest rating.

“People for the American Way, a liberal advocacy group, and other advocates urged the newspaper to dig into Ricci’s background, specifically an earlier 1995 lawsuit the firefighter filed contending the city of New Haven discriminated against him because he’s dyslexic.”

"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country" - Hermann Goering

"I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do this I keep on doing." - Romans 7:18-19
