Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

So Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize. But, I think the article tells a very telling story.

The Nobel committee praised Obama’s creation of “a new climate in international politics” and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage. The plaudit appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama’s predecessor for resorting to largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. (link)

Emphasis mine. International politics. Returned diplomacy (read, power) to the U.N. world stage. In other words, he supports world government. Support for this.

He added that the committee endorsed “Obama’s appeal that ‘Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.'” (link)

Also winning the Nobel Peace Prize as Presidents were:
Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, Republican who became a Progressive to get big-government.
Woodrow Wilson in 1919, self-proclaimed liberal. Man who signed into effect the 16th Amendment and gave birth to the Federal Reserve. Also tried to start the League of Nations (pred to the UN).

Obama beat out Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai who has been in government for years and an Afghan woman’s rights activist. I would assume that the latter has probably lived in Afghanistan and fights daily for peace. But forget that… give it the guy who has been around for a week in the President’s seat.

Bologna. I think we can clearly see that the NPP is clearly a Liberal/Socialist/more-government award.

I have been arguing on a liberal newspaper site about whether President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. I believe, yes he does. The committee that awarded the prize made their decision. The real question should be who is a bigger laughing stock, the committee or Obama? The Nobel Peace Prize has been so degraded over the last few decades that to steal a term from the old Laugh-in TV show, a better name would be the Fickle Finger of Fate Award.

"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country" - Hermann Goering
