FCC to Regulate the Internet

The government most obviously wants to control everything in our lives. They want to own private companies. They want to provide and demand health care upon you. They want to tell you what food you can and cannot eat. They want to tell you who you can and cannot marry. They want to tell you how much to pay your workers. They want to tell you how to raise your children. They want to tell you where you can build and how high. Etc.

One of the few avenues untouched is speech, although we could argue that they want to tell you what you can and cannot say too via hate speech crimes. One of the best way to do this is by the Internet. A place where we can put out information freely and discuss freely.

Well, this may not be so for much longer. It seems Net Neutrality is here. So instead of taking the normal legal route of making something able to be regulated… the FCC is bending definitions.

The proposal would put Internet service providers in a category with telephone service, which is more clearly under the agency’s authority. (link)

Of course, this is all being provided under the guise of helping everyone out by making sure that everyone is provided Internet access.

The Chairman will seek to restore the status quo as it existed prior to the court decision in order to fulfill the previously stated agenda of extending broadband to all Americans, protecting consumers, ensuring fair competition, and preserving a free and open Internet.

Thanks to politicians like John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.) and Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.),

The lawmakers said they could support defining broadband as a telecommunications service if the FCC stripped Internet access providers of some of the rules that apply to phone companies.

Let me say this plainly – this is an abomination to just redefine things that you want to control. But hey, this is how they are going to do everything until we all wake up slaves.

I think this is BTMN’s way of “Stacking the Court”. FDR threatened to do so, and the court calmly fell in line. The current administration is taking a different road to the same ends; if they cannot get the court to do what they desire, change the status of the thing they want into something they can regulate. If Cap and Tax is not passed, the EPA simply publish authorized carbon levels and “fine” anyone who exceeds the arbitrary numbers…imo.

I don’t quite know what these regulators are trying to get done or what imaginary problem they think they see. In a lot of areas the competition between internet providers is intense . I thought that is what they wanted .

"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country" - Hermann Goering
